Agriculture is a dynamic field marked by new technological advances. This Krishi Vigyan Kendra (Farm Science Center) has been supporting farming communities for enhancing and sustaining their livelihoods by promotion of varied intervention in sphere of agro based livelihoods.ICAR sanctioned this KVK in year 2001 to  Dr.Hedgewar Seva Samiti,Nandurbar and thereafter recruited staff with fully functionalized at Kolda Tal and Dist Nandurbar (M.S.) to ensure that farmers are abreast with technological advances for all agricultural needs.

Our KVK promotes agro based livelihoods by assisting farmer through regular mandatory activities like; training programmes, front line demonstrations, on farm testing, farm development and other extension activities. These activities help to bridging the gap between research and extension and equip farmers with latest development in agriculture field.

The major crops grown are Cotton, Jowar, Soybean, Red gram, Green gram, Black gram,Rice,Onion, Sugarcan. During Kharif Wheat, Bengal gram, Safflower, Rabi Jowar in Rabi season. While in Summer Ground nut and sown vegetables are grown by irrigated farmers. Further, in district Horticultural crops such as Banana, Citrus, Mango, Papaya, Custard Apple,  Turmeric, grown. Floriculture, Dairy, Sericulture, Goat rearing are the main pillars of secondary agriculture in the district.

        - Enhance the productivity of Cotton, Red gram, Green gram, Black gram crops through IPM, IDM, and INM.

       - Integrated pests, diseases and nutrient management in Cotton Mango and Vegetables.

      - Promote Organic farming.

          - Value addition in Mango.

          - Seed production of Onion, Groundnut, Wheat

ICAR - Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Pune: An Overview

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is an autonomous organization under the Department of Agricultural Research & Education (DARE), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India. Agricultural Extension Division is one of the Subject Matter Divisions where the major activities are of Assessment, Refinement and Demonstration of Technology/Products through a network of 732 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs). The Division of Agricultural Extension, ICAR, New Delhi is headed by Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension) supported by 2 Assistant Director Generals. The thrust areas of Agricultural Extension Division are:

  • Assessment, refinement and demonstration of technology/products.

  • Training of practicing farmers, farm women and vocational training for rural youth.

  • Training of extension personnel.

  • Single window delivery system for technology products, diagnostic services and information through, Agricultural Technology Information Centers (ATICs)

  • Development of gender-specific technologies, and

  • Creating awareness of improved agricultural technologies among the farmers.

ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Pune is one of the 11 ICAR-ATARIs functioning under Division of Agricultural Extension. ICAR has established a vast network of KVKs all over the country under the administrative control of various ICAR institutes, State Agricultural Universities (SAUs), State Department of Agriculture, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and other institutes for implementing the central governmental projects/schemes. In the Zone, Agricultural Technology Information Centers (ATICs) are working for delivering the “Single Window” delivery system. The mandates of ICAR-ATARI have also been focused where socio-economic research is one of the integral components.
